Here’s What I’ve Been Reading Lately

I’ve been writing a lot lately.
I’ve also been reading a lot in support of that writing. I’ve been reading books about writing, fiction and non-fiction that I want to study to pick apart their writing style, and books I’m reading (or rereading) to think more deeply on my subject of interest, break-away movements. So, I’ve put together a list of what I’m currently reading.
Here’s what I’m reading:
Books I’m reading for writing tips
- On Writing by Steven King
- On Writing Horror by Mort Castle
- The Ode Less Traveled by Stephen Fry
- Inside Black Mirror by Charlie Brooker
Non-Fiction I’m reading to take notes on writing style
- Disunited Nations by Peter Ziehan
- This is How they Tell Me the World Ends by Nicole Perlroth
- How to Hide an Empire by Daniel Immerwahr
- 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari
Fiction I’m reading to take notes on writing style
- Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey
- A Small Town in Germany by John Le Carré
- Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk
- Nightwork by Nora Roberts
Non-Fiction I’m reading for area of focus
- The Break-Up of Britain by Tom Narin
- Border & Rule by Harsha Walia
- Imagined Communities by Benedict Anderson (Reread)
- The Lies that Bind by Kwame Anthony Appiah
At some point soon, I intend to review some of these books. I’m particularly enjoying How to Hide an Empire by Daniel Immerwahr, Kwame Appiah’s The Lies that Bind, Leviathan Wakes, and Charlie Brooker’s Inside Black Mirror.
This is just a brief list of some of what I’m reading at the moment. I hope that pieces of these influences become more evident in what I write very soon. It’s very exciting to be immersed in the process of converting things I’m picking up into instant practice daily. I hope that some of my inspirations can also help inspire you.
